SPCA's World Animal Day - 'Paws at the Beach'

It was World Animal Day on 10th October and there was a celebration at East Coast Park 'Paws at the Beach"! The Harley Davidson groups were invited to take part in this animal charity event. We made a grand convoy down to ECP followed by a $5/per ride charity event.

There were about 4 to 5 puppies that Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD) brought down for the event and put up for adoption. This little fellow won my heart. ♥

A puppy mill is a commercial dog breeding operation where puppiers are mass produced with profit being the main goal. Cases highlighted in the media in 2010 revealed the deplorable and substandard conditions in which many dogs were kept; as a result some of the animals died from sickness and neglect, while many others suffered immeasurably, having been deprived of proper nutrition, medical attention, companionship and socialisation.

Poor breeding practices can also result in puppies with genetic flaws and physical abnormalities, which are not always evident at the time of purchase.

Consumer demand for purebred puppies and "designer" puppiers (e.g. labradoodles) are the main reason that the industry thrives today.

When you buy that cute puppy in the pet shop window, you could be adding to the problem. Stop this cycle of cruelty. Adopt or buy from a reputable breeder.

Daddy and Mommy weren't working on 10th August hence they brought me out for a fun day at West Coast Park. I wished Daddy and Mommy don't need to work on all weekdays because we were the only people (and dog) at the dog run! I had so much fun running around and not worrying about small dogs coming up to bark at me.

I injured my nose by accident. Mommy is feeling the pain as well when she exclaimed, "oh dear, your nose nose" but Daddy said I deserved it since I was naughty and hence injured my nose. :(

A Walk @ Reservoir

Daddy & Mommy must be crazy to bring me for a walk at the reservoir under the burning hot sun.

I was so excited in the car, thinking that I would get to play with other dogs.

Clearly I wasn't very happy with the choice of a walk they got for me. Mommy was upset that i didn't give a single smile in all the photo she took of me, so just to make her happy...

I smiled. *shrug* I can barely open my eyes under the sun. Mommy can be quite an evil person at times.

Ok, this is my parents. The two evil ones.

But I love them anyway. They have the food.

West Coast Park Dog Run

I've made a new friend recently and he's Money, a very adorable poodle. He's scared of me initially as I'm too fat and stinko so he kept barking at me. Now he simply ignored me.

Our parents brought us to West Coast Park Dog Run and I really had fun chasing after my toy, jumping and running around, resting under the benches and making new friends!

DOG MILL REHOMERS

Please join in the rescue effort to save 75 dogs in Singapore. [More Information About Rehome Effort]

BACKGROUND
A breeder/owner at Pasir Ris wanted to close operations and sell his existing stock of 75 dogs to other breeders. Concerned dog rescuers banded together to save the dogs. They bought over the dogs, rented the place for a month to build up the dogs with the plan of finding them good adoptive homes.

A group of volunteers have been going there for the past few weeks to clean up the place, wash the dogs, feed the dogs, send the dogs to vets for help.

We are looking for dogs lovers who can adopt these poor abused dog, or to help in donations of cash and other items:

I turned two on 22nd March 2010. Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to Jody, happy birthday to me! Daddy and mommy didn't give me any presents but they brought me to a new dog run area for me to run wild and meet new friends. I love it! ♥

And the weather was great and I really do enjoy the suntanning!

Ok, I'm sulking now because daddy dragged me out to the sun after I've ran to the shade.

And I made a new best friend, a golden retriever and he's called Peanut!

I've decided to be a model when I grow up and so I'm practising now in front of stranger's camera.

And the other new friends that I met!

Love his friendly manner!

We nicknamed him Hush Puppy, don't tell him!

Memories of 2009

Just the other day, mommy was looking through the photo in her phone and she realised there are over hundreds of photo of me, me and me! *giggle* So after she transferred the photo over to her laptop, I'm here to do a recap of the last few months of 2009.

So while bored at home, these are the things I would do to keep myself entertained.

1) Beg for food or toy. I do believe I look absolutely adorable with my big wide eyes.

2) Play with my toy and destroy them within minutes. I can't do this too often as mommy has warned me that she'd stop buying toys for me if i keep destroying them within minutes. Oops.

3) Getting punished. Ok, I didn't mean to add that to my activities but I seemed to get punished a lot whenever I'm naughty. I was being sent to my room quite a few times!

4) But of course, the thing i like to do most is to grab the leash and go crazy with it... and hope daddy and mommy will get the hint and bring me out!

So when daddy and mommy really brought me out, I'd always rewards them with lots and lots and lots of kisses!

Sometimes, we will just go to the neighbourhood park.

While other times we would go to places far away, like Pasir Ris Farmway, where I get to play with friends!

But I always feel sad when it's time to go home.

I am really looking forward to going out again, ok mommy?

Finally an update!

Daddy & mommy brought Stefanie and me to Hort Park for a walk on 12th December. Yes, it took Mommy that long to finally photoshop the photo.

I had fun although I was really, really tired after that!

Then it started raining non stop and I got stuck at home.

I'm so bored...

Wait, did I just hear someone said, "let's go out"?

Luckily daddy and mommy played with me when we were stuck at home. If not, I'd really go crazy with boredom!

Finally, we got to go out! To Pasir Ris Farmway!

Mommy said she looked like the Moonface character from Enid Blyton's Faraway Trees. Mwahahaha!

While we were there, two dogs got into a fight. Everyone was so scared but it was lucky the owners came and pulled them apart. I was sniffing their butts earlier, lucky they didn't attack me!

Daddy said I'm a very posh dog because I don't use normal English newspaper for my toilet... No, instead i used these S$5 Japanese newspaper. Well, hey, I wasn't the one who choose the newspaper!

And I really hate having my ears cleaned.

I tried to hide but it was of no use! :(

Hello everyone, it has been one long month since Mommy helped me updated my blog. She finally sat down and photoshop those images for me to start blogging. First of all, Daddy has proposed to Mommy! I don't know what that mean but I do know Mommy is really happy about it!

And when Daddy & Mommy are happy, I'm happy too! ♥

Anyway, recently Daddy & Mommy have been real busy with work hence I've been doing this A LOT at home.

I still get to go downstair for short walks but they are just not the same. You can so totally imagine how happy I was when Daddy got ready the car and brought us to Clementi Wood! Finally, a long walk farfaraway!

And this silly little thing that fell off from the tree! It landed with such a loud thud that Mommy and I were quite startled! Daddy was the first to notice this poor little thing on the floor!

Oh, then Daddy brought us to Telok Blangah Hill the next week and we went on the Henderson Wave too! It was soooooooooo high up but I'm not scared! *proud*

It was so hot so I hid in the shade to rest... Only Daddy and Mommy are stupid enough to sit under the hot sun!

Going back home...

Daddy bought some new car seat thingy for me... I didn't know I'm supposed to sit on it and not go under it.. So when Daddy went, "Jody, up!" I jumped into the car but under the blue thingy. Mommy and Daddy kept laughing at me! :(

Daddy has been busy with work recently and does not have time for me. How I wish there would be more public holidays coming up soon so that Mommy and Daddy would have more time for me and play with me!

Mommy thinks this is a really cute photo of me, taken while we were hiding in Daddy's room doing nothing.

Daddy, Mommy and two friends brought me to Sentosa for swimming. It has been a long while since I last went Sentosa and so it was really, really great to be back at the beach!

The two new friends played with me and I happily swam out to fetch back the toy they threw for me!

Then I noticed Mommy sitting under the tree with her camera pointing at us, so I ran towards her for a nice close-up shoot of myself!

Hmm, and now I'm deciding if I want to stay with Mommy, or go back down to the water!

Hello everyone!

It has been quite some times since I last blogged, anyone misses me?

2 weekends ago, Daddy decided to bring me to a new place. They told me it would be near our new home (moving in next year). That's exciting! I wanna move to a new place so that Mommy can stay with me too!

The weather was really hot. Although there was breeze but the sun was burning hot so we left the place after a while. I had fun though, exploring and sniffing here and there!

As we were walking back towards our car, Mommy was trying to keep the camera so she stopped. Daddy and I were still walking ahead when I suddenly can't smell Mommy. Turned around and saw that she was struggling to keep the camera, so I stood and waited for her. She was so happy that I waited that she gave me a hug and a kiss. *happy*

The next day, Daddy and Mommy told me to get ready because we are going out again! YAY!

Daddy went to get icy cold water for both of us so while waiting in the car, we started to camwhore. *heh*

Daddy was driving and Mommy and I were very excited because we didn't know where Daddy is bringing us!

Up, up and away! Daddy, where are we going?

Wow, we were sooooooo high up that we can see Jurong Island!

I had fun playing with Daddy and Mommy. Mommy said that dogs have better life than human so she wanted to be a dog too. Well, dogs don't wear clothes Mommy. You can't be one!

Look at me! I was so happy running around playing with my toy.

I left my toy high up in the tower. Daddy only noticed it when we reached the bottom of the tower. Daddy sent Mommy to fetch the toy and I thought Mommy would be scolding me but she didn't! She told me to go with her, and she said, "Where's your toy toy Jody? Toy toy?"

So I dashed ahead of her and fetched the toy. She said I'm a clever girl when I reappeared with the toy in my mouth. Wow, I didn't know it's so easy to get praises from Mommy!

At the bottom of the tower is a lovely park. I had fun playing with the butterflies and sniffing every single things. Daddy and Mommy laughed to see me so excited over everything!

Oh no. My dear smokers. I understand that there is no "No Smoking" signs around, but please don't litter? You are making the park ugly! :( Very inconsiderate of you!

And on the next weekends, Daddy had to work so Mommy told me that she'd bring me out instead. With no car (Daddy drove to work), Mommy actually suggested walking to Holland Village, which is 3 train stops away! YAY! Long walk!

Me happily leading the way. Oh, and we saw fishes at Singapore Poly. I wanted to catch one but Mommy pulled me back! *pout*

We also saw beautiful heart-shaped leaves. Nice!

Mommy and I should go out on such long walks more often! So many people thought she's crazy, cos she kept talking to me! But you know what, I understand! :)

The next day, Daddy bought Mommy new books and she sat on his bed reading them and ignoring me!

Mommy, are you reading? I wanna play! I'm coming closer to play! Now!

And I managed to get them to bring me to the big empty field to play! *YAY!*

And this weekends, Daddy and Mommy were busy with Singapore F1 and didn't bring me out. *pout* But Mommy told me that she's bringing mini Jody out with her to F1. I thought she was going to hide me in her bag or something, but it turned out she bought a mini soft toy and named it mini Jody. What the.... *roll eyes*

Hate it! *bite*

Lucky I have lots of toys at home to play with. :)

Hello everyone! ♥♥♥ It has been raining for the past 3 Sundays so I haven't gone out for the weekends for a very long time! Daddy still brings me down for short walks but they are just not the same! I really, really wish the rain would not come this weekend. I wanna go out!

So I've been playing with Mommy and Daddy at home. Look at me begging for my new green toy and look how fast I dashed away the moment I got the toy! Mommy's camera can't even capture me!

Frisbee Time!

Daddy and Mommy brought me to the empty field over the weekend for a game of frisbee. I have so much fun running after the frisbee and easily catching it!

Mommy, as usual, loves to take photo together with me. Thus, when I was too tired out to run anymore, she started taking photo like crazy!

See, mommy is looking so happy to be taking photo with me! Daddy, as usual, likes to show off my fats to everyone else! Oh, and I had great fun eating some grass, much to Mommy's dismay... And I love to sniff that rock everytime I'm there!

Daddy and Mommy also took a photo of themselves. I offered to help them with the photo but they don't trust my skill! :(

Oh, and Daddy wants to show how much taller I have grown, but Mommy took such a long time that I could no longer stand!

My Long Walk!

Daddy had to help Uncle Roy with his church wedding (I heard Daddy was busy blowing balloons!) so Mommy decided to bring me out for a long walk while Daddy was away! I supported this decision with a loud clear bark!

Mommy brought my toy along and we started the walk with a few rounds of "fetch" game. I love playing fetch, I almost always get to the toy before it landed! I'm that fast!

But I soon got bored of "fetch" and walked away without picking up the toy. Mommy went, "toy toy leh? Bring me the toy toy!" so I walked back and took the toy to her. She was so proud of me being able to understand her! Hmm, my mom is so weird. Of course I understand. I always knew what she is asking me to do, but sometime I just chose to ignore her that's all.

I then decided to play "catching" with Mommy instead. As Mommy came towards me to take the toy from me, I'd dash away. Mommy gave up and started walking away, waving byebye. I followed closely behind... And she suddenly turned around to grab the toy! But I knew what she was trying to do and I dashed away before she could even touch the toy! Hahaha!

As I happily turned around to laugh back at Mommy... She's GONE! MISSING! OH DEAR! Mommy where are you? *sniff sniff*

Oh here you are! Why are you hiding in this shelter? *drop toy*

And then we went for our walk. We walked past the playground. We walked past the carpark. We walked past trees and bushes and humans. We walked past so many things, my nose had a hard time trying to keep up with all the things to sniff!

*phew* And that got me really tired out and I badly need a rest. Mommy is always very alarmed when I twisted my paw like this. She'd immediately straighten my paw. But mommy, if I don't feel any pain, why should you even be worrying?

Oh and Mommy suddenly told me that we would be doing something very exciting! I was so happy that I totally sat up straight and looked at her, wondering what we were going to do next!

And she...

Took her camera out and took a photo of herself. My mom can be a total idiot at times. She laughed at my shocked expression and told me she's just kidding...

And we took some photo together! <3

And I decided to check my mom's ear like how she always checked mine...

And GOOD LORD! Mommy's ear is sooooooooooooooooooo smelly! You do so need a good cleaning! Remember to use my pink washing solution for your ears ok Mommy?

And as we were about to go back home with Daddy, Mommy snapped this photo of me looking totally ugly. And she told me that I must so blog about it because I'm so cute! What's so cute about this photo you tell me?! Mommy has weird taste.

My first 2 days of August

Daddy told me that it has been a year since I took my first injection and I will have to go see Vet Wendy soon for my injections. Wow, I am really growing up. :D

As Daddy was busy doing some work on Saturday as he had to go overseas for work on Sunday, Mommy brought me out to the park so that we won't disturb Daddy.

The moment we got to the park, I started sniffing everywhere happily! There were so many intesting smell all around!

And as I was happily enjoying myself, Mommy told me to sit, so I did and she took out her camera phone. Oh dear. How irritating. Feeling pissed, I refused to look at her. Hey, I want to walk!

But Mommy soon discovered that I kept shaking my head because my ear was very itchy. She got a shock as she saw the mucus in my ear. Worried that my ear infection was back, she cut short our walk and brought me home to clean out my ears. Nope, it wasn't infection, just a very dirty right ear (which had infection previously).

And since we were home, Mommy cut my nail and gave me a bath too. She took out my medicated wash and massaged me with the solution, then we played a new game, peekaboo! Mommy would hide her face behind her hands and asked, "Jody, Jody, where's Jody?". I'd jump up on her and she'd happily go, "Oh, here's Jody!" We played that a few rounds and Mommy chatted with me until finally half an hour is up and Mommy washed the solution off me. She then applied on me my special body lotion and then I'm all nice and clean!

Oh and Sunday Mommy brought me out for a much longer walk again! We walked and walked and walked and walked for more than an hour! I was so tired after that and just had to flop down and rest.

It sure feels good after a good exercise! I feel so much healthier already! I hope I have lost the extra weights I have gained after I was spayed so that Vet Wendy won't scold me again the next time I see her!

And look! New toys for me! Mommy just doesn't give up does she? I have chewed up each of her new toys for me within minutes but she just kept continuing buying them for me. Heh, I love my silly mom.

Daddy, it feels so weird without you coming home from work at night. I wish it's Wednesday already. I miss you (and Mommy misses you too)! Come back already!

One week ago

It has been a week and Mommy finally decided to blog about last weekend. I have already forgotten what we have done last week! I hope Mommy still remembered so that she can help me with this post.

On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy were not around at home so Mommy gave me a new toy to play with while they were away. It's a nice pink heart soft toy with rope. My favourite.

As I was really bored after they were gone, I started playing with my toy and somehow managed to completely destroyed it. Mommy was upset and scolded me for being so rough with my toy. Well, if you never leave me alone, I wouldn't be so bored and started tearing my heart soft toy apart!

*hmph*

But lucky Mommy didn't stay mad for long because she brought me out for a long walk while Daddy was busy with his work.

She brought me to the park downstair and I had fun sniffing everything! The pervert dog was there too! Mommy and I immediately turned and walked in the other direction. *phew* The park was pretty small and we soon got bored of walking around the same place again and again thus Mommy brought me to a new place to explore.

There was this huge drain and I thought it was a waterfall! I kept staring at the water as they rushed down. Mommy took a photo of me looking very puzzled but she stupidly deleted ALL of her photo in her HTC and now all of my lovely photo are lost. *roll eyes* And that's when it was my turn to be mad at her.

So next day, Daddy brought us out to play. We went to Holland Village to say hello to other dogs. I don't know why the chihuahua there always barked at me. It's so upsetting. I merely wanted to say hi but Mickey kept barking and barking at me. Boo! The human there brought out a black dog from his cage and told him that we are friends friends. He obviously didn't regard me as friend because he growled at me!

So upsetting! Why none of the small dogs like me?

We went to the field next and I got a little naughty and wandered away, totally ignoring Mom and Dad. Daddy kept calling my name but I was so engrossed with this weird rock that I didn't hear him. Suddenly, I thought I heard the car door being opened and I looked up and saw that Daddy and Mommy were getting ready to get into the car! Noooo! I rushed to the car and they opened the door for me to get in. *phew* Daddy then lectured me on how if I misbehaved, I will be sent home immediately without any playing time.

*sigh* I learnt my lesson.

Now I'm looking forward to the weekends. I hope they bring me out! Oh, and I met Jacq Jacq Auntie for the first time. I hope I made a good impression! I hope!

Playing in the neighbourhood

Daddy and Mommy brought me to the park nearby for frisbee and fetch games! I love playing games! When Mommy told me to find my toy toy, I knew Daddy would be playing fetch with me! I knew it! *happy*

I love it when Daddy pats pats me but Mommy started laughing after she took some photo. I took a look and there were nothing funny...

Until Mommy enlarged the photo and I saw my face... Nooo!!! Delete it please!

And everyone, please be wary of this dog. He is a pervert! He came over to sniff sniff my ass and the next thing I know, he was trying to hump me! This pathetic shortie wants to hump me! *roll eyes* I have better taste than this ok! Lucky Daddy and Mommy came to the rescue and pushed the tiny shortie away and I didn't get humped. Hpmh, go away, I don't like you!

Oh, and what's an outing without some photo taken with my parents?

Lastly, I want to complain! Mommy wanted to play with me so she went "ARGH!" with her mouth opened wide. She was actually trying to pretend to bite me but I thought she wanted a kiss so I gave her a big wet french kiss.

Finally an update

I have a mild ear infection and I made Daddy & Mommy worried sick. They brought me to see Vet Wendy and they were so happy to learn that it was nothing serious. Now Mommy called me Smelly Smelly Jody. Hey!

Look, Mommy wanted to take a photo with me to use as the display pic on her old HTC Touch, so I gave my best smile and looked straight into the camera. Mommy adores this photo and she showed me her HTC with this photo on the Today screen. Cute ♥

But mommy being mommy, she wanted to take more photo and I was really tired so I couldn't smile anymore.

Dogs Day Out

Daddy & Mommy brought me to West Coast Park again last Sunday but it was so different! There were so many other dogs around and there were beautiful colorful tents too! Mommy told me that there is a "Dogs Day Out" event hence we cannot play our usual game of frisbee here. Not fair!

But I had fun too! Playing with other dogs, making new friends! Mommy's friends Adeline & Nicky were there too and Daddy happily told them I am Fatty Jody. Hey! Bully!

Daddy was also very mean. He kept telling me "sit" but I don't want to sit! Do you know how hot the weather is? Do you know how hot to grass is? It's VERY, VERY HOT! I don't want to sit!

But Daddy kept going "sit", "sit", "sit"! Ok, fine. I'll sit...

♥ Whenever I heard Daddy saying "today's weather is good", I know I'd be in for a treat! And Sunday was a good-weather day so Daddy brought us out to play with frisbee! Hooray! Mommy, as usual, wanted to take lots of photo to remember the day with. The moment we were in the car, Mommy told us to take a family photo together. It turned out nice ♥

Then Mommy wanted to take a photo with me but it turned out blur and over-exposed. Mommy, you are a lousy photographer! And don't pretend you wanted it to turn out this way ok because we knew better. :P

We are there! Now look at how fast I can run, and run, and run, and run, and run, and run! I ♥ running! It's the best exercise ever! Why won't Daddy and Mommy run with me? They swam with me but never ran with me before. *roll eyes* Lazy!

Mommy had been ~~lazy~~ busy and didn't help me edit those lovely photo of me until today. *pout* So now I'm finally updating after 16 days missing from the Internet. Anyone misses me?

First of all, everyone listen good. I. Am. Sick! Oh, how sad, I am sick sick sick! Look at the amount of pills I have to take!

I am the world's most pathetic dog! *sad look* Daddy & Mommy did notice me dropping a lot of fur recently. They were worried about me, of course, but they didn't realise it was a skin problem. They thought I am too hot in this weather. I wouldn't blame them because I didn't know I have a skin problem too.

Mommy was getting really worried when she spotted bald patches on my sides and she asked Daddy if we should visit the vet (Oh no!). After monitoring me for sometimes, it seems like I'm not itching or whatsoever so they thought they would ask the vet about my balding parts when we visit the vet next month for my next round of jab.

But I ended up vomiting badly one night and Daddy got so worried that he immediately drove me to the vet and... I am allergic to my food, thus causing skin problems and the final straw, vomiting. Yes yes, poor me. You know what that mean? Daddy and Mommy are going to donate ALL OF MY SNACKS to the dogs' home. NO MORE SNACKS FOR ME. In fact, Daddy got to start feeding me plain rice and fish instead of my yummy Royal Canine. Like... WHAT!? Life's miserable.

Lucky Mommy knew I'd be upset with no snacks and she bought me new toys, hoping to cheer me up.

So in total now, I have one big red ball (thrown away cos I spoilt it by biting it), one big orange squeaky toy (also thrown away cos I spoilt it by biting it), one blue bone (which I don't like cos it tastes weird), another big red ball to replace the one I spoilt, some rope thingy with rubber in between which is also thrown away cos I spoilt it by biting it. Some other rope thingy which Daddy kept away so that I won't spoil it and we only play fetch with it. Some spiral thingy which I adored at first but now I'm bored of it. Frisbee! I love frisbee. I have two. One pink one blue. Softtoys. A pink pig, a green cow (above), bird, some XXX soft toy (above). Look so porn. And one more rope thingy. Oh! And my fave water toy! Which we always bring to Sentosa with. Hmm.. Is that all of my toys? That's all I can remember. See Mommy, I have so little toys. More please!

And Susan Jiejie bought me this cute pink pig pig toy which I carry around with me in the house. Everywhere I go. I LOVE IT. But erm.. Sorry jiejie but I bite the tail off already. :X SORRY!

The weather has been so bad recently that while Mommy and I were talking our afternoon walk around the neighbourhood on Saturday, we were really, really happy when we found a nice cool spot with lots of wind. We both stood there facing the wind and just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Nice!

Daddy and Mommy brought me to West Coast Park on Saturday. They forgot to bring my toy, so sad! So in the end, Daddy used my pink lash as my "toy" instead and threw it far far away for me to run and fetch! It was still fun, but ... HOW COULD THEY FORGET MY TOY!

They then took me to this winding bridge and they started playing a trick on me. Mommy continued walking ahead but Daddy turned and walked back to where we came from. What should I do? Follow Mommy or turn and follow Daddy? Right when I was still deciding, I heard Daddy shouted, "byebye Jody!" No, he cannot leave me, so I turned and started running towards him but Mommy started shouting, "byebye Jody!", so I turned left towards mommy, but Daddy was yelling again so I turned right.. and then left, and then right, and then left... HEY! WHATEVER! *stalk off*

Yes, I have evil parents. Mommy even attempted to take a video of me turning left/right, unable to decide who to follow. Luckily for me, she was too slow and didn't capture my uncertain actions.

But I guess I still love them. I know they are just playing with me, although it was no fun at all.

Mother's Day 2009

This is my first Mother's Day as a Mommy... to my dog. She has given me unconditional love, countless licks and many scratches as my present. We went to Sentosa to celebrate the day and while out in the sea, she gave me a kick which caused me to lose my footing and I couldn't find the seabed. I panicked and pulled her as she was the nearest to me. She was pushed under water as a result but luckily I found the seabed within like 1 second but she had already choked on water due to that! *guilty mom* Daddy hugged her and lifted her out of water. She coughed for a while and started swimming towards me again, telling me that "It's ok mom. You're stupid but I forgive you anyway."

In the car, she tried her luck and stuck her head out in between our seats. Sensing that she was in luck that day, she put one paw in... Then the other paw in, and the next thing we know, she had crawled into the font seat, right into my lap! Silly, sajiao girl. She's so huge that each little movement she made, she ended up scratching me. My legs (I was wearing mini skirt!) are now full of scratches. How sad.

Then we went to the playground back home while daddy cleaned out the car and she gave me the cutest face ever to add to my ever-growing collection of Jody's Photo.

Awww, how cute. I have a really happy Mother's Day. :P

Hello everyone. Daddy and Mommy are going to Malacca this long weekend, leaving me all alone in Singapore. I am so upset. Why can't they bring me along too? Ok, so Grandpa & Grandma will be looking after me but they don't play with me! I want to go Malacca too! So not fair.

Mommy tried to make up for my sadness by buying me a lot of new things. A new sphere ball (S$14.89), two paragon star stick (S$3.38 x 2), one paragon crocodile (S$3.20) and two rawhide ball (S$4.52). Total damage S$29.37. On average, that's S$10 per day since they would be gone for 3 days. Does Mommy really think she can bribe me with just S$10!?

Jody's Weekends

Hello everyone, did I ever tell you how much I love weekends? Weekends is when daddy & mommy do not have to go to work and they can play with me and even bring me out! Just like this weekend. Daddy suggested bringing me to Sentosa since I really, really, really love to swim!

We met new friends there too and they came to play with me. Mommy was sitting far far away in her shade as she was afraid of getting too heaty again as she was still recoving from a bad sore throat which developed into fever followed by 3 weeks of coughing. Why? Because she never drank enough water and stayed out in the sun for too long a period when we came Sentosa previously! Naughty mommy! Anywayyy, as I was saying, mommy was sitting in a faraway shade, hence the photo she took... is terrible. *shake head* Mommy is so lazy. Couldn't she walk nearer to take a photo of me and my new friends?

Nevermind. The white blur that you see? That's me!

And that was Saturday!

On Sunday, daddy wanted to clean and polish his bike so mommy took me out for a walk so that we won't disturb daddy. I love it when mommy brings me out for walk because she has absolutely no control over me. Heh heh heh. And she always say the magic words - "Jody, where do you wanna go?"

That is like heaven to me, it means Mommy is giving me the go-ahead to sniff everywhere and smell everything! Woohoo! But of coz if I ever walked up to shit, she'd definitely pull me away. I don't understand why Mommy doesn't like me sniffing shit. I can know so much about the other dogs from their shit ya'know?

Anyway... See, when mommy gives me the go-ahead to go anywhere I want, I'd charge ahead when her following me.

And sometime she would really irritate me by calling my name... And I turned around happily, but all she does is to click on her phone. I don't know why she is always pointing her phone at me. So rude. Pfff.

Oh, so her phone can take photo too! Heh heh heh. I look cute... but why is my tongue so huge?!

Did I mention that I couldn't really concentrate on my walk though? Because I missed daddy... Although mommy gave me the permission to walk anywhere I want, I found myself following daddy's scent and walking back to where daddy and his bike are. Mommy was so amused by my lack of concentration on the walk!

Ahhh, I miss weekends. Can't wait for the next weekends to come! <33

Keep Out! Dangerous Dog!

Daddy & Mommy once saw a sign outside a private housing that said "Keep out, dangerous dog" and being curious, we tried to find the "dangerous dog". A labrador retriever came running out to the gate and started wagging its tail at us. Both of us started laughing; the only thing dangerous about a labrador retriever is that you might get licked to death!

But that was because Jody was still a very young puppy then hence we didn't realise the dangers she can bring. Now that Jody has grown up (1 year old!), we began to realise just now dangerous she can be.

Being a loving dog, Jody often wants to express her love for you and thus she would suddenly leap up and try to kiss you. Such sudden actions often caused us pain as her strong head will knock into our chins or in her haste, she ended up giving us a bite instead.

As a "spare the rod and spoil the child" mother, I often felt heartpain when I tugged at her chokechain and she started panting heavily. Thus, I often just tugged a little to get her attention. This is, of course, a big mistake as she soon realise I am not the boss around her. She would dash off in the right direction before running left again, causing the leash to tie up around my ankle and having strangers staring at me. With daddy, she would walk to heel, sit when darling stops, response to "come here", "stay", "down" and "up". However, with me, she's just a wild little puppy running loose, getting me into trouble. Oh dear. I guess I really have to be tough with her.

The worse came to climbing up and down stairs. Jody often dashed up and down stairs and that often caused me to be terribly scared. Sometimes I would be so scared I would end up letting go of her leash and screaming, "darling, get her!" We really need to train her to walk at a normal speed instead of dashing up/down stairs.

And bathing her is a nightmare too as she thinks that her towel is the greatest toy ever. When she was a little puppy, I would go "Jody, ready? Now, sit. Good girl. One, two, three!" and then started rubbing her dry with the towel. Over the months, she would immediately sit when she saw the towel and by the sound of three, she would start chewing on the towel. -_-" But as I am drying her up, she often accidentally chew on my hand instead! Luckily she always let go when I go "ouch" but we really need to get rid of her habit as her teeth are now bigger and her jaw much stronger. Accidents can really happen! Thus, I will close down her mouth tight with my right hand and rub her dry with left hand. She seems to understand that she's not supposed to fight for the towel now... Hope she will really learn!

So there, does my labrador retriever sounds dangerous too? Maybe I should go get that sign too!

Yesterday while Mommy was cleaning Jody and Jody's room, she decided to sing. Naughty Jody started growling; either she was singing along in her unique way else she was warning Mommy to stop her horrible singing.

Brought her down to welcome Daddy home from Phuket and Jody was so excited. She rushed up to Darling who was still packing his stuffs into his Harley. Poor mommy couldn't control Jody. Daddy must be really happy to see his daughter so happy to see him back home.

Mommy actually managed to wake up on time to bring me to the dog run organised by class 95! Susan jiejie & Colby joined us as well! It was really a butt-sniffing experience for me, I have never been surrounded by so many other dogs before! I was so busy running around sniffing everyone else's butts!

There was a contest going on for the best looking dog. Wanting to give other dogs a chance, Colby and myself didn't take part in the contest. I mean, obviously both of us would win, right? Just look at how cute we are:

Congrats to Teacup who won, you are indeed very cute too! Oh, they should have a most romantic couple contest. I would so vote for them! They kept hugging and hugging and hugging and hugging!

After the dog run event, daddy brought us all to Holland Village for our breakfast and then we went to Pet Lovers for window shopping and to say hello to all the dogs there.

Daddy finally found a top that's big enough for me and he happily got it for me. I'm supposed to wear this top whenever I'm inside the car so that I won't make the car to be full of my fur! Hehehe.. I love my top; I have so much fun biting it! Mommy thinks I look like a little boy in this blue top, I think she's just jealous.

Ok, that's all for today. I'm sleepy and I'm off to bed. Tomorrow's another big day of eating and sleeping and shitting ... oh, and irritating daddy!

Jody being punished

Jody has been toilet trained but sometime when she wants to get our attention or overly-excited, she would forget to pee in her tray and just let go wherever she is.

Here she is being punished after one such incident. She was asked where she is supposed to pee (wee wee where?), and then made to stay at her tray. She looked very happy about her punishment, maybe she was just too happy to get our attention.

Jody's 1st Birthday

Jody turned 1 year old on 22nd March 2009. There wasn't any special celebration and definitely no cake but I think the little girl had a great time that day with Daddy and Mommy.

Daddy and Mommy dressed Jody up in her best (and only) outfit, which is her Coach collar and brought her to Sentosa to celebrate her 1st birthday. She was on her best behavior that day and didn't jump on much people. A group of teenagers were playing with a ball near us and Jody ran over to catch the ball causing the poor Malay girls to run away in fright. Sorry about that!

She swam with Daddy, camwhore-ed with Mommy, played with frisbee, played with her water toy and ate a lot of floating leaves. It's hard to believe that she's really one year old, considering how she still loves putting anything floating into her mouth.

Our attempts to take family photo failed miserably. Either Jody disappeared from the photo, else either Daddy or Mommy got cut out. These two were the best, although one were blur (water on the camera) and the other one was ruined by the damaged shutter which were semi-close. We need a new camera! Sponsorship? *blink*

But luckily our individual photo with Jody turned out well. At least Jody was looking into the camera for most of the photo! I especially love the one of Daddy and Jody looking totally bored. That's the expression they gave me whenever I insisted on taking another photo because I felt that I look terribly fat in the previous. *grin*

Daddy & Jody went on a Save The Earth mission as they went round swimming and collecting empty plastic bottles that were floating on the water. Did you see the bottle in Jody's mouth? So proud of her!

There was once when we were at Sentosa and some people were playing frisbee. Jody suddenly dashed across and ended up catching their frisbee instead and started playing with them.

Therefore, we got her a frisbee since she seems to really love it. Brought her out one day and she went crazy with her pink frisbee.

James Tan Veterinary Hospital

I am so shocked to receive this in my email. No, not shocked but it's more like totally disgusted and VERY ANGRY.

We have a friend working at James Tan Veterinary Hospital, hence Jody has been going there for her checkup and spraying operation.

I know the article is old, dated 2000, but if James Tan can be so unethical in the past, burning the dead pets on BBQ stove, giving them EXPIRED DRUGS, re-using left-over drugs and god knows what other unethical stuffs he has done that have not been discovered, I honestly doubt he will change much now.

I don't care even if we have to pay like $100+ more with other vet, I am DEFINITELY NOT BRINGING JODY BACK TO JAMES TAN! Never again. My poor Jody, she MIGHT have been injected with left over drugs or expired drugs! How could any vet used left over drugs? Don't they understand that any drugs OPENED = CONTAMINATED?!

He paid $350 for pet to be cremated, but got this instead

It was supposed to be a dignified final gesture for a pet dog. A beloved campanion which had been part of the family for the last 10 years. That's why Mr Edmund Ong, 23, a sales executive, paid $350 to the James Tan Veterinary Hospital - to give Doggie a solemn cremation.

But what Mr Ong didn't know till later was that Doggie's carcass was instead incinerated over mesh wire and two hot stoves. The shocking, barbecue-like, cremation was done in an open courtyard behind the veterinary hospital.

Said Mr Ong: "It makes my blood boil." Because he had paid for a decent cremation - not this.
The vet has since offered him compensation of 10 times what he paid, plus a written apology.

It all started when Mr Ong's mixed breed fell ill late last year. The 10-year-old dog was easily breathless and lethargic, with a poor appetite. Said Mr Ong: "When I took Doggie to Dr James Tan, the doctor said he was suffering from heart murmur. Dr Tan gave him some medicine and sent him home. He recovered after that."

A few months later, Doggie had a relapse.

The concerned owner rushed his pet to the hospital in the middle of the night.
He said: "Doggie's condition looked pretty bad. He seemed to be gasping for breath and his gums had turned white. Dr James Tan said that it was highly unlikely he would survive the night."

But Doggie did make it through that night and was taken home the next day. Said Mr Ong: "The morning after he was brought home, he suffered another attack. He was breathless and suddenly
collapsed in the living room. "His body lay limp on the floor and his muscles were all knotted and stiff. I knew that he was gone."

In despair, Mr Ong rushed Doggie to the vet, but it was too late for his beloved pet. On Sept 28, Doggie lost his last battle. Said Mr Ong: "I couldn't save my dog. He was dead on arrival at the hospital. The last thing I could do for him was to arrange a decent cremation."

He paid the hospital $350 for an individual cremation, and another $400 to have his pet's ashes housed at the hospital crematorium.

"I was told that I couldn't watch my dog's body being incinerated, and I was asked to collect the ashes two days later," he said.

But a day after he had placed Doggie's ashes at the hospital's crematorium, he received a phone call.

"An ex-classmate, who was then working at the hospital, told me that Doggie had not been properly cremated. "He told me that his body had been burnt on a stove outdoors in an undignified way. It was like he was burnt on a makeshift barbecue-like pit."

Enraged, he called Dr James Tan and demanded to know the truth.

"Dr Tan told me that he would check and call me back by 2pm." When the vet didn't, Mr Ong called again that afternoon. "This time, he admitted that my dog had been cremated in an open compound over a stove. I was so angry. "I demanded to know what he was going to do to settle the problem, and he asked me to go to the hospital to talk things through."

That afternoon, at 3.30pm, Mr Ong saw the tiny courtyard where Doggie was turned into ashes. The New Paper contacted Mr Ong after learning about the incident from another person. Dr Tan offered Mr Ong compensation of $7,500 - 10 times what he had paid the hospital - and a letter of apology. Mr Ong has accepted the compensation.

In the letter, Dr Tan apologised for cremating Doggie on an open fire in the hospital compound without proper equipment. Dr Tan also promised not to cremate any more animals the same way.
Said Mr Ong: "It's really not about the money. "Doggie wasn't just a dog to me, he was like a son. He was my first pet and will be my last."

Vet says: My own animal was also burnt like that...

FACED with Mr Ong's case, Dr James Tan answered every query from The New Paper calmly.

Yes, I had burnt dead animals over a stove, the 61-year-old veterinarian replied.

Does he know that it is illegal? "Yes," he answered.
Said Dr Tan: "Previously, someone did it for us and he sent the dead animals away. But he's no longer doing it. "So we thought, for small animals, just put it on the fire and burn it away."

He doesn't regard what was done to Doggie as extraordinary. "So what? My own animal was also burnt like that," he explained. "There's nothing wrong with that... Actually, doing it is nothing. Just put a grill there, put the thing on the fire and burn."

"Put it in a crematorium in a box, fire burns it. You do it barbecue-style, fire also burns it.
"You know how small a hamster is? So small, you still want to put it in a big crematorium?"

Dr Tan said that officers from the Ministry of the Environment were alerted about the hospital's method of cremation of animals last month. An officer inspected the premises just last week and he was given a warning not to do it again, added Dr Tan.

"I promised the officer that I would have nothing more to do with this, even burning small animals like tortoises. I don't want to do it any more."I do not like it, frankly speaking. And now, I make it a point - that I won't do it any more."

When I asked to view the premises, Dr Tan offered to show me around. The courtyard was clean. I saw two stoves stacked neatly on a barbecue pit at the side of the yard. And there was no sign of charring on the grey cement floor.

Vets must follow a code

We asked the Environment Ministry these questions:
Dr Tan provides a cremation and burial service for pets. But allegations have been made that he cremates the pets byburning the carcasses over an open fire in the courtyard of his hospital.
Is this illegal? What are the legal and ethical guidelines for burning of animal carcasses? If found guilty, what is the penalty for illegal cremation of pets?

Dr Tan claims that an Environment Ministry officer visited the premises twice, once last month, and once last week, and he was let off with a warning. Is this true?

ENV: Open burning of dead animals is prohibited. ENV will investigate the complaint. We have advised those living in landed property that they can put the dead pet in a strong opaque plastic bag, tie up the bag securely, and leave it out in the bin in front of their house for collection by the public waste collector serving their estate. For HDB dwellers, they are advised to deposit the bagged dead pet in the nearby bin centre. The public has also
been advised to seek the services of private animal crematoria if they find it hard to do the above.

What the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) says Dr Tan provides a cremation and burial service for pets. If the allegations against him are proven, what action will be taken against Dr Tan?

Vets are licensed by AVA to treat, vaccinate and inoculate animals and birds. They are also required to uphold their professional conduct in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Veterinarians. Vets who are found to have violated the licensing conditions or Code of Ethics are liable to sanctions or penalty as determined by the AVA, or Singapore Veterinary Association.

COMPLAINTS

THREE employees at the veterinary hospital told The New Paper that Dr Tan also used expired medicine and left-over anaesthetic from earlier surgeries to put new animal patients to sleep.
Dr Tan acknowledged both complaints, though he insisted that he has never used expired drugs intentionally.

EXPIRED DRUGS:

Showing me his drug cabinet, Dr Tan said: "It's not like they expire on that very day, making them unusable the next day. They always have some allowance - six months or one year.
"But of course it's not that we deliberately want to make use of these drugs. Sometimes, we simply overlook the expiry date..."

"We remove some of the drugs that have expired... but when it comes in a box all sealed up, we don't go and check every single bottle in it.

"Then you open it up, after maybe six months or so, the drugs might be left with only two months. So how? Can't help it, got to quickly use it up."

But he said that he would get his staff to check the stocks regularly from now on.

LEFTOVER ANAESTHETIC:

Does he use leftover anaesthetic to put animals to sleep?
"If an animal is to be put down in front of the client, we always have the anaesthetic bottle there, and we use fresh anaesthetic."

Pulling out a used syringe, half-filled with a translucent blue liquid, he continued: "All this is nice and clean... I don't need so much. The remaining, I keep it. "The next time another dog needs to be put down, I personally see that there's nothing wrong with using this one rather than letting it go to waste."

My friends and I boarded the Silver Cab of Ng Yong Kang (SHD1205D) on 16th September, and he was not only being reckless in his driving, he also had a very bad attitude. For example, he started speeding at traffic light, and still boasted to us, "See, I am so much faster than the cars behind. I am good right?" His reckless driving included speeding through red lights, stopping at expressway lane to ask which exit to use, jamming brake and reversing when he missed the turns, changing lanes without proper signalling, ...

My friend insisted that I alert someone about this cab driver since I would be the last to get off, hence I smsed darling the cab driver's name and plate number. Darling immediately insisted that I get off together with my friend (2nd last stop) so that I won't be alone in the cab. I thought that since it'd only be another 15 minute, I told darling that I'd continue with the journey and he went, "NO! I said get outta the cab with her. I am coming outta the house to head to XXX now. I can't afford to have something happen to you."

Jody is very good at pulling your heart's string. She has the most apologetic face, but trust me, she's a little devil.

She attended her first lesson on Sunday, and darling & I were very proud of her. She was asked out for a demostration, and she listened to the dog trainer's sit command, and sat down immediately. Everyone went "Ahhh", which made us very proud. Too bad she still isn't responding well to "heel". Most of the time she's too distracted and she wouldn't notice darling saying "heel" and walking off until she feels the leash pulling her.

The dog trainer commented that the class is full of shit, as the puppies took turn to poo poo on the ground! We were so proud of Jody as she didn't join in the shitting fun... Unless at the last few minutes of the class, she decided to let go of her shit... Sigh, never praise your dog too early!

Saturday was a fun day at Sentosa, but a pity Jody can't touch water yet as she just had her jab. Darling and I were kept very busy, as Jody kept putting everything she sees into her mouth, just like my niece when she was a baby! She had tried putting sand, leaves, charcoal, cigarettes, seeds and stones into her mouth! Each time we had to force open her mouth and take out these items. Sigh, what a naughty little girl!

We were trying to take a photo together, but Jody just can't keep still.

So we took a photo without her!

But we couldn't resist taking photo with her again...

And then of her... She was busy eating the sand, while I tried to get her attention. -_-"

Totally unrelated, but I had digital perm as well as a red shade with blonde highlight done for my hair. Initially, all I wanted was just a haircut, but there was a promotion for digital perm (S$98) so I got tempted. After the perm, the hair stylist suggested some color to make the curls look younger... which is another S$98... And then she suggested some Japanese shampoo for permed hair, and some lotion/wax thingy,... And the total bill added up to S$268!!! To think I was tempted because it was S$98, and ended up spending so much. I am offically broke...

And I feel old with this permed hair. ((Cries))

I don't even need to wonder, "does he love me?" because I know for sure he does.

He already turned into the carpark when I went, "oops, should have gotten the cough syrup earlier!" and he immediately turned out of the carpark and to the nearest 7-11 just for me to get my cough syrup.

There were no "why didn't you say earlier?" nor "we're already home, get it tomorrow!". It was just a case of she-needs-it, we-get-it.

Have you read about Jody's day out with pretty Wendy jiejie? Well, this lucky girl got to go West Coast Park again with her (boy)friend Cody!

While on the way to pick up Cody, I tried to teach Jody the arts of cam-whoring. She hasn't really pick up the skill yet. She's either looking to her left, else she's looking into the sky. And when she's finally looking at camera, silly April didn't do so. Then she got bored and started licking April, which made April looks really ugly in the photo.

Therefore, out of 23094859184910573634636 photo, only one turned out ok.

Meet Cody! Susan & Martine's didi! Jody's new best friend, but the feeling's one sided. Jody loves him, but he doesn't give a damn about her. Awww, the poor Jody. Lucky she's too young to know what is "broken-hearted".

Like a proud daddy, darling told me that Jody has finally learnt to pee/poo at her tray, right on top of the newspaper, instead of everywhere over the place. Let's hope she keeps it up, then she'd be ready to go out and visit people soon! =D

I'm back

Dailyjuicynews.net was shut down sometime in early June? I did mention that it would be up as another site in July, but obviously I procrastinated. =P As mentioned, my personal blog will now be moved back to my livejournal only (nick: siyue), so add me as a friend if you have a livejournal account too!

My plan was to move my old love site from geocities.com/loversinjune to Dailyjuicynews.net on 3rd July, which was our 4th years anniversary... But I was "popular" during that period, and ended up going out every night after work. I had 4 drafts of layouts done halfway and deleted as I didn't like how they turned out.

I managed to rush something out by 1st July, but it was grey and boring, and I hated it. Thus, I delayed the launching of the love site until now! So it became a 4 years & 1 month present for darling. ((laugh))

Most of the pages are somewhat done. I just need to decorate them nicely, add in photo, and tada, the site should be done.

Until then, let's see when I get hardworking enough! =D
